Who are we?
Our story.
Freeride Ireland was founded in 2017 after founding member Matthew Geraghty returned from living in British Columbia, Canada where he had taken part in his first freeride compeition becoming the first ever Irish athlete to do so. From there Matthew and college friends Fionn O’Connell Hussey and Fiachra Doherty embarked on the first ever freeride skiing event attended by an Irish team, and thus Freeride Ireland was born.
Since its inception, Freeride Ireland has been focused on helping Irish skiers and snowboarders take their riding to the next level by helping them to enter Freeride World Qualifier competitions all over the world.
What we do.
Competitions.At our core we take Irish snowsport athletes to freeride skiing and snowboarding competitions all over the world. From Verbier to Whistler you’ll find us at the start gates ready to drop in. We can help you sign up for and compete in your first event making sure you have the know how to perform at a high level against the best in the world.
Trips.It’s not all that serious though! Just take a look at our video above from last years trip to Verbier and you’ll see its mostly about having a good time with good people. This year we’re planning guided backcountry trips, long weekend ski holidays and some touring and a film premiere just for good measure!
Events.We also put on film screenings, avalanche safety courses and info nights to get you up to speed before taking your first steps off piste. We have events in Ireland and abroad in various different resorts. Make sure not to miss our on some of the best snow based parties of the year!
